Education

A group of students and Sisters of Loretto — St. Ann's Academy, Osage Mission, Approximately 1890's. [1]

St. Francis church and St. Paul's schools represent the longest, continuous running educational tradition in the state of Kansas.  The Osage Mission/St. Paul Schools have not missed a term since May of 1847.  St. Francis Catholic Church educational programs have built on that achievement.

Our Educational Programs:
Our education programs are aimed at maintaining a high level of Catholic education for our youth; attracting interested adults into our Catholic faith; and providing ongoing religious study for parishioners or other interested people.  Our education and study programs are conducted from our St. Paul PSR building and St. Francis Rectory with support from a team of St. Francis and St. Ambrose parishioners:
  • The Parish School of Religion (PSR).   This link includes information about our PSR Program, staff and links to useful information.

  • Catechesis of the Good Shepherd.   A program that involves adults and children in a common religious experience in which religious values of childhood (contemplation and enjoyment of God) are prodominent.

  • Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA).   Do you want to become a Catholic?  This link provides an overview of the RCIA process, what to expect and contact information.

  • Bible Study Group.   St. Francis offers bible study classes at various times during the year.  Some are part of the RCIA Program and others are less formal study groups for adults wanting to better understand their faith.

Some Reference Information:

[1]  The Clara Parker Photo.  The banner photo is credited to the Osage Mission - Neosho County Historical Society.  It was sent to the society by a gentleman named Joe George*.  The young woman seated in a chair, second from right, is his great grandmother, Clara Parker.  The photo shows a group of young, strings musicians at St. Ann's Academy, probably in the 1890's.  The banner photo was cropped from the photo below.  For more information about St. Ann's Academy follow THIS LINK.
* Note:  Joe George is not related to our local George family.
