Eucharistic Adoration

"The importance of Eucharistic Adoration is the Sacramental Presence of Jesus Christ.  .... Out of Stewardship people want to spend time with the Lord."
Bishop Emeritus Eugene J. Gerber (video below)

Eucharistic Adoration.
There may be no purer form of prayer and the expression of stewardship of our time than the simple act of Eucharistic Adoration.  It is our personal decision to spend our time in the presence of Jesus.

At the moment of Consecration, during the Mass, the gifts of bread and wine are transformed into the actual Body and Blood of Christ at the altar.  After Communion sacred hosts are returned to the tabernacle.  During the Eucharistic Adoration period the sacred host is removed from the tabernacle and placed in the Monstrance on the altar.  During this period of exposure we can spend our one-on-one time in the real presence of Christ praying, reading scripture or in personal meditation.

During the scheduled periods of adoration, the sanctuary and nave of the church are reserved for that purpose.     Lights are dimmed and a peaceful, contemplative atmosphere is maintained.  Church tours, repairs, etc. should not be done during this time.

Scheduled Adoration.
Your personal adoration period may be scheduled through the PSR Director in 30 minute or one-hour increments.  After you have scheduled a time-period you should ensure that it is used.  If you cannot be present during your time try to secure a replacement, perhaps from a person who has a time scheduled just before or after you.  If you cannot find a replacement please coordinate your absence with the PSR Director or Parish Office.  The church should be occupied at all times while the Eucharist is exposed on the altar.  There is a sign-in sheet in the back of the church.

Note: In the event of a funeral or other special Mass, during a scheduled adoration day, that week's adoration is cancelled.
